Nicolette Martin is a senior at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. She was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo., and is majoring in print and Internet journalism and minoring in art, specifically photography, with the hopes of one day being a freelance writer/reporter and owning her own photography gallery. She is the News Editor of MSU’s student newspaper, The Standard.
In her three and a half years since high school, Nicolette has attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi – Alpha Beta; the University of Missouri – Kansas City in the heart of downtown KCMO, and Missouri State University where she will finish her college career as a Bear.
Nicolette enjoys almost all sports. She is a giant Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs fan, as well as an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She spends most of her fall days obsessing over college football and the smell of cinnamon. When she’s not hanging out at Kauffman Stadium or wishing she was at Kinnick, you might find her checking out the local dives Kansas City has to offer, strolling around the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art or browsing local boutiques and thrift stores.
One of Nicolette’s main goals in life is to take every day as it comes. She finds pleasure in the simple things, and you can often find her on warm summer nights sitting on her deck, and if she’s lucky, watching lightning in the distance while listening to Internet radio and enjoying everything the Midwest has to offer.
